The minister said, “at the moment, for every fixed-term contract that is signed, three more permanent jobs are created in companies”.


Mota Soares added that, despite Portugal managing to “bring unemployment down significantly”, and back to where it was in 2009, jobs are still “a major concern” for the government.


Pedro Mota Soares was in Portimão on Monday to present an Algarve training programme where €1.5 million is to be invested to train workers to “combat employment seasonality in the region”, in other words what to do in the winter when the tourists stay away.
