According to the Met Office, among the areas issued with a ‘high’ fire risk alert are Vila do Bispo, Lagos, Portimão, Silves, Loulé, Faro, Olhão, and Tavira, in the Algarve, and Barrancos (Beja), Santiago do Cacém, Grândola (Setúbal) and Reguengos de Monsaraz (Évora).
The Met Office’s fire risk warnings are divided into five tiers, ranging from reduced to maximum.
