The number was disclosed on Tuesday by the mayor of Vila Franca de Xira, Alberto Mesquita, upon signing an agreement with the local delegation of the Portuguese bar association to provide free legal advice to the victims of the outbreak that affected the region last November.
The final report on the outbreak said the disease caused 12 deaths and infected 375 people.
The president of the local bar association, Paulo Rocha, said that all the victims should demand that the culprits should be held responsible “without any fear that justice would be done”.
However, Paulo Rocha advised the victims to wait for the results of the investigation that is being conducted by the public prosecutor’s office.
The outbreak, which was the third largest on record in the world, was considered extinct on 21 November.
