Eduardo Cabrita said, that the secretaries of state for civil protection and forestry have already concluded “the identification of priority areas of risk” based on the fires in 2018.
According to Cabrita, 703 are considered a first priority, that is, of higher risk, and 439 as second.
He stressed that “the country “has to do a lot better in forest cleaning”, and also said that in 2018, 12,200 fires were recorded, a 44 percent reduction over the last decade.
