Parliament approves hearing of former President and PM on Iraq war

The Portuguese Parliament on Tuesday approved a hearing of former President Jorge Sampaio and former Prime Minister and head of the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso on the Iraq war following the findings of the Chilcot Report in the UK.

The Portuguese parliament will also hear from former Defence Minister Paulo Portas and Foreign Affairs Minister Martins da Cruz.

The parliamentary commission on Foreign Affairs and the Portuguese Communities on Tuesday discussed a request from the Communist Party (PCP), which proposed the hearing.

The hearings were approved with votes in favour from the governing socialist party, PCP and Bloco de Esquerda, while opposition parties PSD and CDS-PP voted against them.

Would like to be updated on this issue, particularly due to the fact feel that both Tony Blair and George Bush should also be charged with War crimes I admire the way Portugal got its act together regarding the different approach towards people with addiction, the book "Chasing the Scream" by Yohan Hari is a must read.
