In total 303 people were arrested in the 72 hours starting at 7am last Friday (13 March) and ending at 7am on Monday this week.
The PSP force said in a statement that along with the scores of offenders who were detained, 4,196 doses of drugs – including 1,463 doses of hashish, 2,629 doses of cocaine, 71 doses of cannabis and three doses of amphetamines – were seized.
Twenty-four arrests were made for drug trafficking, 16 for resisting and coercion, 23 for theft/robbery, 13 for being in possession of an illegal weapon, five for being in Portugal illegally, four for domestic violence and one for kidnapping, rape and attempted murder.
Thirteen guns, 10 knives, three batons and a stun-gun were also removed from the streets in the massive clampdown.
Over the course of the whole of last week the PSP force made 684 arrests nationally, seized 23 guns, 27 knives, nine batons, two cans of pepper gas, one stun-gun and more than 13,571 doses of drugs.
