In the EU as a whole, year-on-year inflation in December was -0.01 percent, against a positive 0.3 percent rate in November and 1 percent in December of 2013, Eurostat said.
Portugal’s year-on-year rate in December was, at -0.3 percent, one of the lowest in the eurozone, beaten only by those of Greece, which was -2.5 percent, Bulgaria, which was -2 percent, Spain, which was -1.1 percent, and Cyprus, at -1.0 percent.
The highest inflation rates in December were those of Romania, at 1 percent, Austria, at 0.8 percent, and Finland, at 0.6 percent.
