This “safe” and “light” technological solution uses thin, intelligent and personalised fabrics and allows hand function to return to people who have lost it due to pain or loss of strength, the head of the project, Filipe Quinaz, told Lusa News Agency.
The solution put together by the NUADA start-up company is mainly based, “on low energy consumption components created to deal with heavy weights, maintaining touch sensitivity and with a non-intrusive relationship with the body.”
According to NUADA, one of the glove’s main uses will be as a medical device for the elderly suffering from arthritis or following a stroke. Other sectors that could benefit are demanding jobs such as assembly line workers or construction, for example, where the glove would increase comfort levels, safety and productivity.
