The use of medicines, preparations and substances made from cannabis plants was approved in parliament back in June following a bill tabled by the Left Bloc and the People and Animals Party.

Only doctors will be able to prescribe medicinal cannabis and only do so when other conventional therapies have been shown to have adverse or unwanted side effects.
