The Santana Sporting Sanctuary will provide young people with the dream of creating a better life for themselves through sport, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train and learn with the best international coaches, nutritionists and emotional performance advisers, in one of Europe’s foremost locations.
Created by its founder Andrew Brown, an English entrepreneur and philanthropist, the sanctuary will welcome up to 400 young people from Portugal, UK, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Scandinavia.
“Many of today’s European youngsters show incredible potential in all areas of their lives” says Andrew, adding: “Often the challenges of early life experiences leave lasting doubts, low levels of confidence and in many cases financial barriers which prevent these amazing young people following their dreams and starting to believe in themselves. Santana Sporting Sanctuary will provide this opportunity ‘Free of Charge’”.
Selected by their own Team Coach, Club Mentor, Teacher or even a supportive friend, the youngsters will enjoy a unique residential week in an amazing villa located within an exclusive gated community.
It is a well-known fact that many leading international sportsmen and women also have homes in the region, and a further bonus is that the youngsters “might even get the chance to meet their sporting heroes, who also focus much of their own training in the same area”.
With an in-house nutritionist, chef, physiotherapist, Emotional and Performance Coach and Yoga and Conditioning specialist, young people between the ages of 10 and 17 will have the opportunity to explore their potential and learn about self-development and contribution for themselves and their team mates.
Participants will experience the same training facilities as International Athletes and World Class Sportsmen and Women, many of whom come to this area for mid or out of season training.
Due to the huge investment in the first few years, a limited number of opportunities are available for youngsters from each of the nine participating countries. This will increase in years 3 and 4.
The Santana Sporting Sanctuary will also develop an initiative to create an educational trust fund for the youngsters who display the most positive contribution to their group, to their experience during their visit and to themselves.
“Each one of these talented kids has potential and it is our responsibility to give them every possible opportunity to achieve their dreams through the unique power of sport”, Andrew concludes.
