The malfunction was first noticed at noon on Wednesday, and was only fully corrected during the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to airport operator ANA, a total of 64 flights were cancelled, a further 11 diverted to other airports, while 322 suffered delays.
Many were allowed to depart after midnight, overriding the limitations of a law limiting noise over the capital. It is estimated that 50,000 air passengers were affected by this unprecedented problem at Portugal’s largest airport.

actually the real problem is that the amount of flights increased and the morons who run the airports in portugal keep only enough fuel for a few days with the real strike on the fuel refineries and specialized transports they couldnt get enough fuel on time ... ! thats why the passangers were not redirected to faro porto or beja airports because then those airports would run out their fuel also ! 12 hours waiting a train to porto is 3 and half hours a train to beja 3 hours ! a nuissance yes but far better then having people waiting for 12 freaking hours ! ofc they keep the ush ush or else they get the poltical backlash
