A motion by the Left Block to this effect was approved unanimously by parliament’s committee on economy innovation and public works, which is to look into the matter.
Also to be called are two members of the right-of-centre coalition government that was in power at the time, the then economy minister António Pires de Lima and his secretary of state for transport Sérgio Monteiro, as well as the current minister for infrastructure, Pedro Marques, who now has the air transport brief.
TAP’s new majority owners - Brazilian-American entrepreneur David Neeleman and Portuguese passenger coach magnate Humberto Pedrosa - are also to be called to testify before the parliamentary committee, along with TAP’s chief executive, Fernando Pinto.
The committee also wants to hear the chairman of the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), Luís Silva Ribeiro.
