Schools in cities including Loulé, Silves, Trofa and Pinhal Novo have had renovation work on them suspended in recent years due to a lack of financing, but that work has now been completed and the establishments are fully renewed and ready to welcome pupils. The overhauls are part of a nationwide programme to modernise Portugal’s secondary schools, under which 152 establishments have been renovated.
