Blue skies and sunshine favoured what was the 17th edition of the marathon, whose route covered Portimão riverside, city centre and Praia da Rocha.
Three different variations of the ‘race’ were staged: an eight-kilometre march/run; a 10 kilometre mini-marathon, and a 21-kilometre half marathon.
The Mamamaratona is part of the AOA’s ‘Pink October’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness about cancer in general, and, more specifically, about breast cancer.
Well-known national and international athletes including Ana Cabecinha, Ana Dias, Carlos Cabral, Elly van Hulst, Ezequiel Canário, Jorge Costa and Truus Zandstra took part in the fund-raising initiative, which is vital for the association’s projects.
