The latter fact resulted not only because of the wind turbine friendly prevailing weather conditions, but was also aided by the low levels of consumption during the mild festive period.
The new generation record of 4,210 MW broke the existing record dating back to January 2015 by around 80 MW.
According to figures from the state General Directorate of Energy and Geology, Portugal has a total installed wind power capacity of 4,953 MW, the second most important renewable energy behind hydroelectric power with an operational capacity of 5,791 MW.
