Initially it was through the fire and explosion in the apartment on Avenida 25 de Abril on Wednesday had been caused by a gas leak.
According to police the woman doused the apartment in petrol before setting it alight.
An elderly Ukrainian woman who lived in the flat below was injured in the incident.
