The DGS epidemiological bulletin reveals that 712 patients are hospitalised (31 less than on Tuesday), the lowest number since October 5, the day on which 701 people were hospitalized.

In intensive care, Portugal today has 155 patients (four less compared to Tuesday), the lowest figure since October 18, the day when Portugal also had 155 cases in these units.

The data indicates that 752 people were recovered, bringing the total number of recovered to 769,838 since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, in March 2020.

Active cases in Portugal continue to record a decrease, with 32,144 recorded today, minus 188.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,805 deaths associated with covid-19 and 818,787 cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Health authorities have 14,898 contacts under surveillance, 20 fewer than the previous day, with a downward trend since January 30.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 1,391,551 people vaccinated against covid-19: 934,295 with the first dose and 457,256 with the second dose.

Of the 11 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, six occurred in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, one in the North region and four in the Centre region.

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, a further 262 new infections were reported, accounting for 310,261 cases and 7,104 deaths so far.

The North region has 142 new SARS-CoV-2 infections and since the beginning of the pandemic it has already counted 329,797 cases of infection and 5,295 deaths.

In the Centre region, 68 more cases were registered, with a total of 116,814 infections and 2,994 deaths.

In the Alentejo, six more cases were reported, totalling 28,936 infections and 967 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

The Algarve region has registered 53 new cases, totalling 20,550 infections and 351 deaths.

In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, 39 new cases were registered, accounting for 8,435 infections and 66 deaths due to covid-19 since March 2020.

Today, the Azores have five new cases, accounting for 3,994 cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 28 deaths.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira disclose their data on a daily basis, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.

Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.

Of the total fatalities, 8,823 were men and 7,982 women.

The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total deaths, 11,080 were people over 80 years old, 3,565 aged between 70 and 79 years old and 1,494 were between 60 and 69 years old.
