Cláudia Pascoal's "almost dance" chosen as best Portuguese song 2020 by aRi[t]mar

The award of the prize to Cláudia Pascoal and to the singer Gaudí Galego, winner in the category of best Galician song, with “Cólico”, will take place in October, added the organization of the event. More than five thousand public votes cast in the "aRi [t] mar Galiza e Portugal" event, promoted by the Official Language School of Santiago de Compostela, determined that the winners for the best musical theme published in Galicia and Portugal in 2018 are , respectively, Gaudi Galego, with “Cólico” and Cláudia Pascoal with “Almost dance”.

These prizes, together with those for poetry, and the one for the Galician-Lusophone Friendship Embassy, ​​will be presented to the winning artists and poets in the sixth edition of the Gala aRi [t] mar 2021, to be held in October. In previous years, the winning Portuguese artists were Capicua, Quinta do Bill, Salvador Sobral, Os Azeitonas and António Zambujo, who went to Santiago de Compostela to receive the prize and interpret the winning songs and others from their repertoires.

In this year's edition, the following most voted themes were those of Galicians Xoana (“Anceios”) and Bárbara Tinoco (“Other languages”), Galicians D'Abaixo, “Pasei pola túa porta”, and Miguel Araújo, with "The incredible story of Gabriela de Jesus". According to the director of the Official Language School of Santiago, Gonzalo Constenla, “the event again generated very good expectations, maintaining an equal dispute for the first places, both in the winning songs, in the second and third most voted until the last minute, and had the highest popular participation of all editions of the event ”.

In addition to the educational and social communities of the Official Language School of Santiago de Compostela, those of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Santiago de Compostela, the Institute of Languages ​​and Human Sciences of the University of Minho (Braga), the Professional Music Conservatory also participated. de Santiago, the Official Language School of Lugo, the Official Language School of Pontevedra, the Portuguese Cultural Center of Vigo-Instituto Camões and the Portuguese teaching establishments by Camões in Galicia and the Galician Study Centers of more than 35 universities in the world abroad, as well as different secondary schools from outside Galicia where Galician is taught. The next stage of the contest consists of choosing the winning poems, which will be able to vote from mid-April to mid-May.

In addition, on the 24th of April, the eve of the celebration of the Carnation Revolution, the special jury prize will be announced to the Galician-Lusophone Friendship Embassy, ​​created to distinguish people, initiatives or institutions that have stood out for building bridges of friendship between Galicia and Lusophony. aRi [t] mar Galicia and Portugal is a didactic-cultural project initially developed by the Official Language School of Santiago de Compostela, belonging to the Council of Culture, Education and University of the Junta of Galicia, which aims to disseminate Galician music and poetry - current Portuguese women, bringing the culture and language of the two countries closer together, within the framework of the development of the Valentim Paz-Andrade Law to take advantage of the teaching of Portuguese and the links with Lusophony.

This initiative is part of the GaliLusofonia Network, “with the objective of joining efforts, coordinating and cooperating in the dissemination of initiatives aimed at promoting our common language and culture in its natural space, Lusofonia, with great potential in other fields such as the economic and institutional ”. The project is sponsored by the Council of Culture, Education and University of the Junta of Galicia, the Provincial Delegation of A Coruña and the City Council of Santiago de Compostela, as well as the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Galicia-Norte de Portugal and the Instituto Camões -Vigo Portuguese Cultural Center. Ten Portuguese singers and bands, along with many others from Galicia, had been chosen for the final vote in the aRi [t] mar contest. Ana Bacalhau, Bárbara Tinoco, Carlão, Cláudia Pascoal, Dino D'Santiago, FUGA, Miguel Araújo, Os Quatro e Meia, Pedro Abrunhosa and Tatanka were the Portuguese artists chosen, while the Galicians were Baiuca, Guadi Galego, Mercedes Peon & Streicherensemble der Augsburger Philharmoniker, MJ Pérez, Néboa, Os d'Abaixo, Pauliña, Ukestra do Medio, Uxía & Sérgio Tannus and Xoana.
