The warning from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) will be in effect between 12pm and 6pm today.
The North Coast and mountainous regions of Madeira Island are also under a yellow warning until 9:00 today due to the forecast of rain, sometimes heavy, possibly with hail and accompanied by thunderstorms.
The IPMA forecasts for today on the continent generally very cloudy skies, periods of rain, locally heavy in the South region, and accompanied by thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon, sometimes strong winds in the highlands, a small drop in the maximum temperature and a small rise in the minimum.
Minimum temperatures will vary between 05 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 13 (in Faro) and maximum temperatures between 12 (in Guarda) and 18 (in Évora).
The IPMA forecasts for the Madeira archipelago generally very cloudy skies, and showers, which may sometimes be heavy and occasionally hail and are accompanied by thunderstorms, especially until mid-morning.
Light to moderate winds are also expected, sometimes strong in the highlands, with the possibility of snowfall at the highest points of Madeira Island until early morning. And a small rise in temperature, especially in the highlands.
In Funchal, temperatures will vary between 15 and 19 degrees and in Porto Santo between 13 and 18 degrees Celsius.
