According to the Diário da República, in the transport by taxi and any paid transport of passengers in vehicles from an Uber type service (TVDE) the use of a separator "between the driver's space and that of passengers transported in the rear seat” is required.
The measure now published is the second extension of the one initially launched on April 7, 2020, when the simplified procedure was adopted that allows the installation, in taxis and TVDE, of separators between the driver and passengers transported in the rear seat , to protect the risks inherent to the transmission of Covid-19.
The installation of the separators is authorized by the Institute of Mobility and Transport and does not require approval or endorsement in the Registration Certificate, being a temporary measure of exceptional character, initially until 31 December, 2020, then until 30 June, 2021 and now until 31 December, 2021. Since the beginning of April 2020, the circulation conditions of taxis have been limited to a maximum occupancy of two-thirds of the vehicle capacity, with the front seats being used only by the driver.
In addition to these measures, a set of rules issued by the Directorate-General for Health is added, namely with regard to the daily cleaning and disinfection of vehicles, cleaning of handles, doors and other internal surfaces in direct contact with the passenger after each use, as well as providing passengers of an alcoholic-based antiseptic solution.
