According to the bulletin of the Directorate General of Health (DGS), 934 people are hospitalised today with Covid-19, six more than on Tuesday, 200 of whom are in intensive care. In the last 24 hours there were no entries in these units.

The area of Lisbon and Tagus Valley with 1,341 cases and the North region with 1,194 have 73.4 percent of the total of new infections in the last 24 hours.

The 13 deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region (7), in the North region (5) and in the Centre region (1).

In what concerns the age groups, nine of the dead were over 80 years old, one between 70 and 79, one between 60 and 69, and two between 50 and 59 years old.

Regarding the total of 3,452 infections in the last 24 hours, the bulletin reveals that 291 are between 0 and 9 years, 565 between 10 and 19 years, 873 between 20 and 29 years, 559 between 30 and 39 years, 477 between 40 and 49 years, 278 between 50 and 59 years, 183 between 60 and 69 years, 11 between 70 and 79 years and 105 are above 80 years.

The data released by DGS also shows that there are 175 more active cases, totalling 40,258 and that 3,264 people have been reported recovered in the last 24 hours, which increases the national total to 891,687 recovered.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, 17,320 people have died in Portugal and 960,437 cases of infection have been recorded.

Health authorities have in surveillance in the last 24 hours another 248 people, totalling 80,475.

The region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley with the notification of 1,341 new infections, accounts so far 375,628 cases and 7,393 deaths.

In the North region, 1,194 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 were registered today, totalling 372,461 cases of infection and 5,414 deaths since the pandemic began.

In the Centre region, 358 more cases were reported, accumulating 128,957 infections and 3,041 deaths.

In Alentejo 115 more cases were reported, totalling 33,375 infections and 980 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In the Algarve region, today's bulletin reveals that 358 new cases were registered, accumulating 32,163 infections and 384 deaths.

The Autonomous region of Madeira has registered 29 cases, adding 10,532 infections and 71 deaths due to Covid-19 since March 2020.

The Azores now has 57 new cases accounting for 7,321 cases and 34 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira release their data daily, which may not coincide with the information released in the DGS bulletin.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 440,675 men and 519,107 women in Portugal, DGS data show, according to which there are 655 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, as this information is not provided automatically.

Of the total number of fatalities, 9,089 were men and 8,231 women.

The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total number of deaths, 11,335 were people aged over 80, 3,710 were aged between 70 and 79, and 1,570 were aged between 60 and 69.

As for infections the bulletin reveals that of the total 960,437 people infected since the start of the pandemic, 56,669 were aged between 0 and 9 years, 94,990 between 10 and 19 years, 148,476 between 20 and 29 years, 142. 154 between 30 and 39 years, 158,316 between 40 and 49 years, 135,779 between 50 and 59 years, 92,237 between 60 and 69 years, 59,230 between 70 and 79 years and 71,931 over 80 years.
