According to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), 733 people are hospitalised today with Covid-19, 25 more compared to Sunday, 151 of whom are in intensive care, minus one.

The area of ​​Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 321 new cases and the North region, with 462, have 69.5% of the total of new infections verified in the last 24 hours.

The deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region (2), in the North region (2), in the Centre region (1) in the Algarve (1).

Regarding the ages of the victims, four were over 80 years old, one between 70 and 79 and one between 60 and 69.

Regarding the age characterisation of new confirmed cases of infection, it is in young people between 20 and 29 years old (men and women) that there were more cases, with 309 more infected in the last 24 hours.

The following are the age groups between 10 and 19 years old (269 new cases) and between 30 and 39 years old (137 new cases).

Data released by the DGS also show that there are over 77 active cases, totalling 45,542, and that 1,043 people were reported as recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the national total to 957,359 recovered.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 17,645 people have died in Portugal and 1,020,546 cases of infection have been registered.

The region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with the notification of 321 new infections, has so far accounted for 397,482 cases and 7,551 deaths.

In the Northern region, 462 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 were registered, totalling 393,095 cases of infection and 5,484 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Centre region there were 108 more cases, accumulating 135,771 infections and 3,073 deaths.

In the Alentejo, 18 more cases were reported, totalling 36,171 infections and 1004 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the Algarve region, the bulletin registers 169 new cases, accumulating 38,109 infections and 421 deaths.

The Autonomous Region of Madeira registered 38 new cases, totalling 11,491 infections and 72 deaths due to covid-19 since March 2020.

The Azores today have 10 new cases, accounting for 8,427 cases and 40 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.

Of the total number of fatalities, 9,267 were men and 8,378 women.

The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total deaths, 11,527 were over 80 years old, 3,783 were between 70 and 79 years old, and 1,600 were between 60 and 69 years old.
