"The overall average occupancy rate/room was 60.5%, 15.5% below the value recorded in 2019", quantified the Algarve Hotels and Touristic Enterprises Association (AHETA) in provisional data released by its office on occupation in the region.
The sales volume “increased 2.3% compared to October 2019 and 157% compared to the same month in 2020”, highlighted AHETA in the statement in which it announced last month's data.
The same source added that "compared to 2020, the average occupancy rose 31.2%", driven by an increase in the domestic market of 34.8%, while in the foreign market the average occupancy per room "decreased 21.7% compared to October 2019”.
“In accumulated terms, since the beginning of the year, occupancy per room has recorded an average decrease of 50.0% and the volume of sales has decreased by 41.3% compared to the same period in 2019”.
As for geographical areas, and comparing October 2019, “the biggest declines were found in Albufeira (down 26.0%), Faro/Olhão (down 19.3%) and Carvoeiro/Armação de Pêra (down 17.7%)”, said AHETA.
