"Avatar: The Way of the Water" is the sequel to
"Avatar", the second most watched film in Portuguese cinemas since
there are systematised statistics on film exhibitions, that is, since 2004, with
1.25 million spectators. "Avatar" premiered in Portugal in 2009, in
around 90 theatres.
In response to questions from the Lusa agency, a source from
NOS Audiovisuais revealed that "more than 200 Portuguese cinemas will premiere
the film" and that "about 30,000 tickets have already been sold"
already.
In addition, 2,472 screenings of the film are planned in the
first 15 days, following the premiere, between Thursday and January 4th, in NOS theaters.
The story of the new film takes place ten years after the
events of the first and follows the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their
children): "Their problems, the long distances they go to stay safe, the
battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure".
