Today's values ??are similar to those recorded in October, with regard to deaths, when 33 deaths were reported on the 29th of that month and in September, with regard to new cases, with the registration of 388 cases on 8 September.

Regarding deaths, the number has been decreasing, having registered an amount equal to that of 29 October (33).

The DGS bulletin also reveals that 2,167 patients are hospitalised (two more than on Sunday), of which 469 are in intensive care, minus 15.

The data released today also indicate that 1,258 people were reported as recovered, bringing the total number of recovered to 720,235 since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, in March 2020.

For 29 consecutive days, the number of recovered patients exceeds that of new infections.

Active cases in Portugal continue to record a decline, with 68,370 active cases today, minus 898.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,351 deaths associated with covid-19 and 804,956 cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Health authorities have 41,227 contacts under surveillance, 4,187 less than the previous day, with a downward trend since January 30.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 868,951 people vaccinated: 603,585 with the first dose and 265,366 with the second dose.

Of the 34 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 15 occurred in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 10 in the Centre region and nine in the North region.

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 238 new infections were reported, with 304,772 cases and 6,846 deaths so far.

According to the bulletin, the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley accounted for 60.4 percent of cases recorded in the last 24 hours and 44.2 percent of total deaths.

The North region today has 74 new SARS-CoV-2 infections and since the beginning of the pandemic it has already counted 326,378 cases of infection and 5,215 deaths.

In the Centre region, 27 more cases were recorded, with a total of 114,984 infections and 2,915 deaths.

In teh Alentejo, 15 more cases were reported, totalling 28,474 infections and 947 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

The Algarve region has today reported 12 new cases, totalling 20,110 infections and 339 deaths.

Madeira registered 16 new cases. This autonomous region accounts for 6,474 infections and 61 deaths due to covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of the Azores registered 12 new ones in the last 24 hours and a total of 3,764 cases of infection and 28 deaths were reported.

Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.

Of the total fatalities, 8,551 were men and 7,800 women.

The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total deaths, 10,837 were people over 80 years old, 3,440 aged between 70 and 79 years old and 1,444 were between 60 and 69 years old.
