On 27 October Portugal also recorded 28 deaths.

The DGS epidemiological bulletin reveals that 1,708 patients are hospitalised (119 less than on Wednesday), the lowest figure since 26 October, when 1,672 people were hospitalised.

Portugal has 399 patients in intensive care today (16 less than Wednesday), the lowest since 13 November, when there were 388 people in these units.

The data also indicate that 1,654 people have been reported recovered, bringing the total number of recovered since the start of the pandemic in Portugal to 727,053.

For 32 consecutive days, the number of recovered has exceeded the number of new infections.

Active cases in Portugal continue to see a decrease, with 63,945 counted today, 852 fewer.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,458 Covid-19-associated deaths and 807,456 cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection.

Health authorities have 31,041 contacts under surveillance, down 2,450 from the previous day, with the downward trend continuing since 30 January.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 929,133 people vaccinated: 655,719 with the first dose and 273,414 with the second dose.

Of the 28 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 11 occurred in Lisbon and Tagus Valley, six in the North region, six in the Centre region and five in Alentejo.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region 376 new infections have been reported, leading to 305,829 cases and 6,900 deaths so far.

According to the bulletin, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region now has 45.3 percent of the cases registered in the last 24 hours and 39.2 percent of the deaths, standing out from the other regions of the country.

The Northern region now has 207 new SARS-CoV-2 infections, and since the pandemic began, 326,968 cases of infection and 5,239 deaths have been recorded.

In the Centre region, 111 more cases have been registered, accumulating 115,286 infections and 2,932 deaths.

In Alentejo five more cases were reported, totalling 28,537 infections and 954 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

The Algarve region has 22 new cases reported today, adding 20,180 infections and 344 deaths.

Madeira has registered 106 new cases. This autonomous region accounts for 6,860 infections and 61 deaths due to Covid-19.

The Autonomous Region of the Azores registered three new cases in the last 24 hours and notified in total 3,796 infections and 28 deaths.

The confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections registered between 20 and 59 years old.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 365,277 men and 441,911 women in Portugal, according to data from the DGS.

Of the total number of fatalities, 8,606 were men and 7,852 women.

The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total number of deaths, 10,898 were people aged over 80, 3,466 were aged between 70 and 79 and 1,456 were aged between 60 and 69.
