"TAP estimates that the reduction in its operational capacity in the winter 2020/2021 period will be between 60 percent and 70 percent, compared to the previous winter", a statement from the company reveals.
The airline also reported on 30 November that it increased its losses in the first nine months of the year to 700.6 million Euros, after having recorded a loss of 110.8 million Euros in the same period of 2019.
"In the coming months, the aviation industry in Europe will continue to face a period of unprecedented uncertainty regarding the evolution of demand, so TAP will be ready to make further capacity cuts, if it’s necessary", guarantees the company in the statement.
However, the company considers "encouraging" news of the emergence of effective vaccines for covid-19 and a vaccination plan, which "also the possibility of acceptance and pre-flight testing may indicate a path of recovering on international air travels.
