The Portuguese team, who were trying to defend their current title, are now out of the tournament after losing in the round of 16 against Belgium by 1-0, following a goal by midfielder Thorgan Hazard, in the 42nd minute.

Upon arrival, a security perimeter was created, and in attendance were some fans who greeted the players from a distance, including striker Cristiano Ronaldo and midfielder Renato Sanches, who were applauded.

Nuno Mendes, Sérgio Oliveira, João Félix, Pepe, Nélson Semedo, João Palhinha, Rúben Dias and Diogo Jota were some of the other players who boarded the bus, as well as Fernando Santos, without any of them making any statement.

From the airport, the team went to Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, headquarters of the Portuguese Football Federation, on a route that had a police escort.
