At high risk the IPMA placed more than 40 other municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Vila Real, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Santarém, Lisbon, Évora, Setúbal, Beja and Faro.
The fire risk determined by IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.
Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
The critical period of fires lasts until the end of September and, until then, it is prohibited to make extensive fires or burning piles without authorisation, to use stoves or grills throughout the countryside, and to smoke or make any kind of fire in the forest areas.
It is also prohibited to launch balloons from burning fuse or rockets or to carry out work in the forest that could cause sparks.
For today, the IPMA predicts a small increase in temperature, especially at the maximum temperature and inland, with little cloudy or clear skies, temporarily cloudy and with drizzle on the central coast until mid-morning. Moderate to strong wind from the northwest is also expected in the afternoon.
The maximum temperatures will vary between 22º (Aveiro) and 32º (Castelo Branco, Évora, Beja and Faro) and the minimum between 13º (Braga, Viana do Castelo and Bragança) and 20º (Faro).
