This meeting at Infarmed's headquarters, in Lisbon, was called by the prime minister, António Costa, who has already said that he does not foresee the need to adopt measures to control the pandemic that imply a new state of emergency.
Scheduled for 15:00, the meeting will also count, on the political side, with the participation of the head of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Ferro Rodrigues, and members of parties with parliamentary representation.
On the part of the specialists, Pedro Pinto Leite, from the General Directorate of Health, will present the epidemiological situation in the country and in Europe, followed by a presentation by Henrique Barros, from the Public Health Institute of the University of Porto, on how the pandemic has evolved.
Vaccination will be one of the strongest points of the meeting, with Baltazar Nunes, from the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA), is to present its impact on the population, and Ausenda Machado, also from INSA, to address the effectiveness of vaccines against Covid-19.
Colonel Carlos Penha-Gonçalves, from the vaccination coordination group, will review the situation on the plan, followed by the intervention of Margarida Gaspar de Matos, from the `task force' of behavioural sciences.
Specialist Raquel Duarte, from the Institute of Public Health of the University of Porto, will present proposals for measures to prevent and control the pandemic in Portugal.
