According to the Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection
Command of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, the snow that fell on Sunday led to the
cutting of road sections numbers 11, 12, and 13, which connect Piornos – Torre
and Torre – Lagoa Comprida.
The same source told Lusa that there is no forecast for the
reopening of sections of the central massif of Serra da Estrela that are closed
to car circulation.
Twelve districts of mainland Portugal are today under an orange
warning due to wind and maritime agitation, indicated the Portuguese Institute
of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).
The districts of Porto, Faro, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo,
Lisbon, Leiria, Beja, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be, until Wednesday, under
an orange warning, the second most serious of a scale of four, due to maritime
agitation. The districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco are under an orange warning
due to wind.
In addition to these 12 districts, another three, Bragança,
Viseu, and Vila Real, will be under a yellow meteorological warning between
today and 06:00 on Wednesday.
