The European Commission has revised upwards the growth forecast for the Portuguese economy to 1% this year, hoping that after a weaker start to the year, there will be an improvement from the second quarter, was announced today.
In the winter economic forecasts, published today, Brussels predicts a slowdown in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth to 1% this year, after an expansion of 6.7% in 2022.
The outlook represents an upward revision of 0.1 percentage points (pp.) and 0.3 pp. for 2022 and 2023, respectively, compared to the November report. However, for this year, it is below the Government's forecast, which expects an expansion of 1.3%.
