Created to battle the low season dip, the ‘Algarve 365 Arts & Shows’ cultural programme this year has a line up of 402 events over eight months, starting on 4 October and running until May 2019.
It comprises over 100 concerts, 52 plays, 93 events, and guided tours, and spans the fields of music, theatre, street arts, literature, exhibitions, dance, and new circus acts, among others.
This year’s theme centres on travel, which according to organisers is “the concept that best represents what the initiative proposes to showcase with this edition”.
Financed by the national tourist board Turismo de Portugal to the sum of €1.5 million, it is managed by the Algarve Tourism Board and the Algarve Tourism Association.
The ‘365 Algarve’ programme aims to “enhance the tourist experience and attractiveness in all municipalities in the Algarve” between autumn and spring, mitigating the seasonality that annually affects the region through “a quality cultural programme, built exclusively from the proposals of the local artistic fabric”.
