Speaking at the presentation of the A4 model, Almeida said “there is a lot of noise about the subject”, but that Portuguese consumers in Portugal “had not shown any sign of worry, doubt or mistrust” in relation to Audi cars.
The general director pointed out that monthly sales had risen by 24.1 percent between September and October, the
period when the Volkswagen scandal was in the headlines.
Almeida said Audi had sold 883 vehicles in October, up 39.7 percent year-on-year and contrasting with a 20.5 percent rise in accumulated sales over the first ten months of this year with a total of 8,077 cars sold.
Part of the Volkswagen group, Almeida said that Audi in Portugal and its clients were kept updated on all developments by the German headquarters, with emissions related issues “under resolution by the group.”
