Catarina Martins, leader of the Eurosceptic party said her party would demand a vote to be held in Portugal should Brussels impose sanctions on Portugal due to its excessive budget deficit.
Martins, who speaking after being re-electing party leader with 83 percent of the vote, said EU sanctions would translate into a declaration of war and so too would be any calls for additional austerity.
It seems like the EU is highly despotic and anti-democratic. Its leaders are unaccountable cronies. Now the EU founding members are proposing to do away with national armies. That would be totally irresponsible for the Portuguese to concede, and it would have disastrous repercussions. Immigration policy dictated from Brussels is also a very bad idea.
