Provisional data has, so far, according to the national tourism board, indicated that there has been continuing growth through summer in terms of tourists and revenue.
João Cotrim de Figueiredo, president of Turismo de Portugal (TdP), said figures from July confirm a trend also noted up until June and show a nine percent growth in visitors in comparison with numbers from the first seven months of 2014.
This, the tourism board believes, is largely due to demand being more equally spread throughout the country, increasing qualification and competitiveness, and a strengthening German market.
While the president of TdP said the board has “no quantified goals for the end of the year, nor is it this that drives us”, for the moment “we are growing more than others, reaching more people and achieve better revenue than others, that means we are being competitive and we have the conditions to grow for many years to come.”
