Owners have been notified to submit vehicles for extraordinary inspection.

According to the GNR, one of the vehicles had a 'nitro' injection system, which “substantially increases the engine's power”.

Following the action, a 20-year-old man was arrested for driving without a legal license and for dangerous driving, having been appointed as a defendant.

"The police action focused on complying with the rules for the approval of components, systems and accessories, with a view to limiting the practice of abusive and irregular transformations, usually connoted as participating vehicles in illegal races, in the municipalities of Penafiel and Paredes", according to the communiqué from the authority.
