“The fire started on the third floor, a storage room, which spread to the ground floor, but is already extinguished and is already in the aftermath," said the same source.
Without being able to give details of the material damage caused by the fire, the RSB said that the building was not evacuated. However, some hospital workers who were closest to the area affected by the fire chose to leave.
"But the hospital was left with everything functioning normally," reinforced a source from the fire service, adding that there is no indication of injuries resulting from the fire.
The alert for the fire at the CUF Descobertas Hospital occurred at 12:20pm and, approximately half an hour later, around 12:50 pm it was considered extinguished, according to information from the RSB, which mobilised "nine vehicles of the Regiment, with 30 elements" to fight the flames.
At 1.20pm, the firefighters were still at the scene finishing the aftermath operations.
