With the expulsion of the Moriscos from Spain in the 17th century to North Africa, Andalusi music spread throughout the Maghreb and evolved in a distinct way with different names: Al-Alâ (Morocco), Gharnâtî (Algeria) and Ma`luf (Tunisia and Libya).

The al-Qarawiyin Orchestra will take the audience on a musical journey through the Andalusian rhythms that have echoed for centuries in the most cultured and sophisticated venues in al-Andalus.
