Several farmers and entities in the Algarve have committed to recovering the endangered Algarve cow, once considered extinct, and said they want to go from the current 11 to 150 animals by 2022. The process is currently in a technical phase, with a new embryo collection, in 2021, of cows of this breed, which will then be placed in recipient cows. "Another 150 animals" will also be acquired for artificial insemination.
