At a press conference held after the Council of Ministers, where the third period of state of emergency was approved, Eduardo Cabrita specified that 79 people were detained for breach of the general duty of house arrest, 41 for breach of the confinement obligation, 20 for breach Ovar fence and 17 for breach of establishment closure obligations.

The minister also said that 172 elements of the security forces and services are infected with the new coronavirus, which causes the covid-19 disease.

According to a statement released by the Public Security Police in the meantime, this security force has 136 elements infected with covid-19, 128 of which are police officers and eight technicians without police functions.

At the press conference, the Minister of Internal Administration said that the security forces and services will continue, over the next 15 days, to do “what is strictly necessary” to fulfill the objectives of containment and social distance provided for in the decree that determines the new state of emergency.

Eduardo Cabrita also said that 4,212 Portuguese people spread across several countries were repatriated, representing 80% of those who requested support from the Portuguese Government.
