Since the beginning of last year, in Loulé, Quarteira, Vilamoura and Almancil, the “Pick me up!” can be used free of charge by young passengers aged up to 12 years old, as long as they hold a pass (which has no associated charge). This age group corresponds to about 10 percent of the total users of the urban network who use this medium mainly when travelling to school.

This measure by Loulé Concelho Global, a municipal company that manages public transport in the municipality, is in line with the strategy of promoting more shared and more ecological mobility in the Louletan community, which, moreover, has been the Municipality's great bet as one of the mitigation measures for climate change. “We want our young people to return to privilege the bus over the personal transport of their parents, reducing car traffic and the emission of greenhouse gases”, consider the city officials.

It should be noted that, during 2019, the urban transport service in the municipality of Loulé carried a total of 236,954 passengers on all of its lines, resulting in an annual growth of almost 6 percent in users and an estimated reduction of 148,096 travel by individual transport vehicle.

The end of the year was marked by the inauguration of the Almancil circuit (Purple Line - Red Line).
