It would be interesting to know what kind of a plan and if it's going to rescue us in the long term.
So far we have relied on annual rainfall to fill the reservoirs, after several months of drought and excessive water consumption. Ever-growing population and climate change are a wake-up call now. Should we also stress the importance of prudent usage of this vital resource?

It is suprising that avocado plantations are being allowed to continue considering the enormous quantities of water they need and the fact that avocado plantations are now prohibited in Andalusia.

As I predicted in previous correspondence, the Portuguese get EU grants for farming crops that have a very high demand for water and then get the EU again to resolve the water shortage. The stripping of rustic land for large scale farming ( see most foot hills along the A22 also has a detrimental on soil erosion through increased wind and rain weather systems. Watch this space for another EU subsidy to put this matter right at a later date.
