Dear
I am writing to express my concern that Portugal has been removed from the UK green list of travel destinations.
As you are my MP I wish that you contact the government to change the status of Portugal so quarantine is not required when returning from the country.
This is having a detrimental impact on British citizens that love visiting Portugal, British citizens working in the Portuguese tourist industry and Portuguese citizens relying on the tourist industry.
I look forward to hearing a positive response from you.

We keep having to have all these test to fly even if you have had both jabs dose that mean the jabs are no good or is it because to many mps have got shares in these test centres and making a fortune from the travailing public And as for the for the mp I charge of travel i don’t think he has a clue what he’s talking about And I’ve not heard a cientist on the tv say he knows only what he thinks What a load of rubbish What’s next the moon and Mars variant Portugal is more safe than the uk

Good luck with the campaign.
My version of the letter, which I sent to my local MP:
I am writing in support of the “Portugal News” campaign to have Portugal re-instated to the Green list. I won’t reproduce their boilerplate here, I would rather make my own points.
I’m fully supportive of the actions necessary to combat Covid. But I am also appalled at this Tory government’s knee-jerk, populist and ascientific approach to public health. Too little too late, then u-turns when the daily mail gets annoyed.
It was particularly galling to see Portugal taken off the Green list a few days after the football supporters returning from Porto – and hard not to conclude that the only reason Portugal was put on the Green list in the first place was a populist desire to avoid the wrath of the footie fans.
If Portugal has to remain on the Amber list, then let us at least get some transparency out of this government (although I say that without much hope). Why were they moved? What is the rationale? What are the criteria to move from one list to the other. Hancock and Boris simply mumbling that they’re “following the science” is simply not good enough.
I hope you will use your influence to attempt to get some answers to these questions.

Hi..I really do not understand the logic of UK government regarding removing Portugal off the green list.
Its these medical bods that are going over the top..'they used to be indecisive..their not so sure now'. Seriously, they seem to be protecting their own necks by giving the UK government figures that do not stack up in the real world...there's lots of contradiction by the UK government too to coincide with the medical bods.
Like me and most who've had both jabs now plus the figures of infection so low compared to last year, yet we're having more restrictions, ie..movement to Portugal and Spain..last year I had to have a jab in Portugal to get back through Spain to UK then quarantine for 10 days..now 2 tests and quarantine for 10 days when arriving back, why? it's almost a con..they've given a list of bona - fide testing practices who cant deliver and have been removed..people haven't received their test kits after paying for them within the 10 day quarantine period and don't know if they should go back to work..its chaotic.
And giving travellers 4 days to get back to UK from green Portugal is bordering, literary, mental deficiency and complete arrogance over ordinary Brits who are and were entitled go and complete their holidays..come back with no problems. All they had to do was stop any more travellers leaving after a respectable period..not that i,d agree with that either.
I get lost for words about this UK government..i,m seriously embarrassed to be called British..that's why I purchased a house in a mountainous Gois region in Portugal.
By the way, your newspaper shouldn't be called the Portuguese news..if should be called the Algarve news..what about central and north Portugal..never have I seen an article or advert etc north of the Algarve apart from a very odd thing on Lisbon or Porto.
I stick to reading your news on line now..ive stopped purchasing your newspaper for over €2.
You have my 100% support in reversing the idiotic excuses for taking Portugal off the green list.
Regards
John Michael Miles

Boris has to look at reversing the decision to place Portugal on the Amber list. I can see why he has, but we have to start living our lives again.
My wife and I have had both jabs and we need to move on. We have not been to Portugal for over 12 months now, this has to change.
Come on Boris, you have achieved a lot since becoming the PM and we agree with most of your decisions, but not this one.
Portugal and the UK go back a long way and tourism for both countries is a must and needs to be open.

To achieve anything you need to add comparative result for example the Algarve v Bedford,Luton,Bolton or Manchester.
This is the only way the MPs will take any notice.
Find a town with a similar population would be my advise.

Just messaged our former MP in Newport West, South Wales. She's Labour. I just hope there's enough pressure on Boris Johnson to reverse this ridiculous decision.

I have just emailed my mp's. Also pointing out that some British citizens like myself own property that we need to maintain. especially the gardens. I am missing Portugal and cnt wait to return as soon as possible!
