The IPMA also placed several councils in the districts of Faro, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Guarda, Leiria, Coimbra, Aveiro, Guarda, Viseu, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Vila Real and Bragança at very high risk of fire.
The risk of fire will remain high in some regions of the continent until at least Sunday.
This risk determined by the IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.
Calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
According to information available on the website of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF), since the beginning of the year until today, fires affected some 25,602 hectares in rural areas, in a total of 6,338 occurrences.
The minimum temperatures will fluctuate between 14 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) and 21 (in Portalegre) and the maximum between 22 (in Porto and Viana do Castelo) and 34 (in Castelo Branco).
