The Civil Protection and the GNR of Castelo Branco told Lusa News Agency on 25 August that the alert was given on the previous day at 7:49 pm.

Speaking to Lusa, the communication and public relations officer of the Territorial Command of the GNR of Castelo Branco, Captain Jorge Massano, explained that the causes of the disappearance are still unknown.

According to him, a team has already been mobilised and resources are being strengthened.

According to information from the District Command for Relief Operations in Castelo Branco, around 11:30 am, 22 workers were at the site, including firefighters, GNR and workers of the Special Civil Protection Force.
