The proposal to change the PS and BE to the Government's initiative includes the creation of the Portuguese Agency for Migration and Asylum (APMS) and the transfer of police powers from the SEF officers to the PSP, GNR and Judiciary Police.
This proposal, which should be voted on, on Friday in the plenary of the Assembly of the Republic, had the votes of the PS, Left Bloc and deputy Joacine Katar Moreira.
Where does that leave Brits living in Portugal and have applied for Residency in 2021 and have been told repeatedly to wait for a phone call from SEF for an appointment to complete residency ????????????????????????

Absolutely wrong in almost every respect. My wife is Portuguese and she has already explained to me the detail. This is just scaremongering, and I will be delisting myself.

I have understood that as part of the restructuring of the SEF, the organization will change its name to "The Portuguese Agency for Migration and Asylum" . There will be no change to the services they offer.
Only the uniformed SEF officers (who have similar duties and powers as police officers) will no longer be under the jurisdiction of the new organization. The officers will be moved to the existing police organizations - PSP, GNR and Judicial police.

Read the article, A PROPOSAL was passed, that is, something that needs working on.
Not that SEF would be abolished in the next 10 milliseconds
