Speaking to CNN Portugal, Moedas added that he was "studying whether or not there will be fireworks".
“In the next few days I will make the decision to restrict end-of-the-year festivities, that is, there will not be the typical concerts on the night of the 31st, because that would create a great agglomeration of people. And we are studying whether or not there will be fireworks […], but I will make a decision very quickly. […] There will definitely be big restrictions and within a day or two I will be able to announce this decision”, he said.
Carlos Moedas took a stand a day after the mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, cancelled the end-of-year festivities in the northern city, due to the pandemic situation.
“[…] It was our intention to do the fireworks on the beach, but the circumstances are what they are and we have to adjust”, explained the mayor to the press.
