This decree, approved by parliament on November 26 and promulgated by the President of the Republic three days later, enters into force on the day following its publication, on Thursday, and expires on March 1, 2022.
In practice, the diploma that was presented by the socialist caucus empowers the Government to decree, through the Council of Ministers, the mandatory use of masks in the street without the authorisation of the Assembly of the Republic.
"If the measure appears necessary, adequate and proportional to the prevention, containment or mitigation of epidemiological infection by Covid-19, the Government may, through the Resolution of the Council of Ministers declaring a situation of alert, contingency or calamity, determine the obligation the use of masks by people aged over 10 years old for access, circulation or permanence in public spaces and streets whenever the physical distance recommended by the health authorities proves to be impractical”, states the decree.
As for the conditions that determine this need, the diploma only mentions that it will be “measured based on data relating to the evolution of the pandemic, namely based on the increase in the number of infections and on the rate of transmission of the disease”, without quantifying it.
What are these clowns waiting for?
Also when talking about masks, forget those blue pieces of kitchen roll that most people are using.
You need at least N95 (FFP2) or N99 (FFP3)

Reply to James from Algarve: Can you please share information where we can read that N95 (FFP2) or N99 (FFP3) masks can filter virus or other bio hazard materials? To my knowledge no masks are able to filter out any viruses the particles are to small. Masks doesnt help anything, let me say the truth, if any mask worked then we would not have colds, influensa, or any other ilnesses on this planet...

Why not use a divers helmet and be done with it………

The COVID-19 virus itself is indeed smaller than the N95 filter size, but the virus always travels attached to larger particles that are consistently snared by the filter. And even if the particles were smaller than the N95 filter size, the erratic motion of particles that size and the electrostatic attraction generated by the mask means they would be consistently caught as well.

'I'm totally sane, not like those other loonies' claim those nowadays, who are scared of breathing air.

Magnus, real learnin' is good for you.

James - there is not one good quality RCT study or real world data set to support your argument. There are dozens of studies and two years worth of real world data to support mask mandates do NOT work against respiratory viruses.
The Governments of the World are well aware of these facts. As they told everybody early 2020 before changing their minds. Rather than clinging on to what has now become a symbol of virtue, everybody should be asking why Governments continue to force nonsensical and harmful mandates onto the individual.

I tried to use a motorcycle helmet, the policeman asked me to take it off and put on a mask. I only needed to pay for parking at the entrance to the mall. So this doesn't work %)

Ok so the UK,one of the highest vaccinated countries in the world.
It had its freedom day, people didn't wear masks on public transport in cinemas etc.
Now it has the fastest growing outbreak on the planet.
Furthermore, please do not class all masks as the same.
The blue loo paper that most people are wearing, yes they are practically worthless.
N95 and N99 masks, worn correctly are highly effective.
Double masking is even more effective.

Censorship is alive and well here. The N95 guy can spew propaganda, but the pragmatic view cannot? Its obvious that muzzles are questionable but they do placate the masses and oppressive.

James - yet again you do not provide any evidence to substantiate your claims. Because none exists. I appreciate it must be hard to come to terms with the fact that you've been fooled for the past two years.
Best of luck.

James, why don't you just triple mask, double shield, wear a hazmat suit and sit at home if you're so terrified of fresh air.
It's absolutely astounding how many countries with low vax rates and no covid measures aren't depleted yet! There must be billions of medical marvels!

Masking on the street is pointless and unpleasant. I will not play along with COVID theater.
I cancelled my Lisbon vacation and booked a trip to Costa Rica instead.
FWIW, this is just adding insult to injury. I had already cancelled my trip because of the disruptive changes to the entry requirements.
I'm excited to visit again...once the frothing panic subsides.
