The Government justified the lifting of some restrictions with the situation of hospital admissions currently being described as calm, despite the increase in infections.

However, this week and until the 14th, teleworking is mandatory, and from that date onwards is recommended.

Discos and bars on the mainland, which had been forced to close as of December 25, can also reopen on January 14, but whoever enters will still have to test negative, with some exceptions.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads is still prohibited.

Controls at the air borders will continue until February 9, while the mandatory Covid-19 negative test will be maintained for all passengers arriving in Portugal.

The relief of measures is mainly aimed at citizens who have received a booster dose of a vaccine against Covid-19 for more than 14 days, who are no longer required to test negative for SARS-CoV-2.

Those who do not have a booster dose will continue to have to test negative for visits to homes for the elderly or patients admitted to hospitals, as well as to have access to major events.

In turn, the digital certificate is still mandatory to enter restaurants, tourist establishments and local accommodation, cultural shows and gyms.
